Even if you choose gear like + vulnerable or + damage and ignore the + shadow, you still have paragon and skills that will be difficult to align. But you'll end up losing synergy between shadow and bone skills along the way. For necromancers that have access to +skill gear, one point is often enough to ensure reasonable resistances for minions, even on Hell difficulty.I feel like it's very difficult to build a "hybrid" and keep it effective at higher levels. However, this skill's effectiveness declines with each successive skill point invested, so usually only a few points are invested in it. These resistances are also helpful for keeping pets that were difficult or expensive to get, such as a strong monster which was revived or a powerful Iron Golem for which a good item was sacrificed. This becomes vital in the later acts when the monsters use elemental spells more frequently against them. Summon Resist helps the necromancer's minions survive against spells.
